For example, a 640-by-480 pixel screen is capable of displaying 640 distinct dots on each of 480 lines, or about 300,000 pixels. The lower the screen resolution, the larger the text appears. Most web sites are designed to be viewed at a resolution of 800X600.

Any suggestions about good digital cameras? Should I get a Sony Mavica like you have that records on to floppy disks?

Nope. I needed the floppy disk storage media cause I cannot hook up wires to the computers of my clients when I visit them. With floppies, I can take pics and instantly view them on the client's computer. But I gave up alot of features... no viewfinder (only an LCD screen), lower maximum resolution, less effective flash, etc. Check out the Kodak DC4800 (street price of about $640). It uses industry standard "memory flash cards". And pick up a "flash card reader" for easy movement of pics from camera to computer (about $50). It has lots of great features and takes fantastic pics.

People often mistakenly think search engines respond to your queries by searching the entire Web each time. But the Web grows much too fast for any search engine to keep up.

Here's what happens. When you search, your results come from a search engine's index, not the entire Web.

Spiders crawl across the Web. Also called crawlers and sometimes called 'bots, these suckers travel across the Web collecting keywords and links from webpages. Spiders navigate the Web the same way we do. Each time a spider finds a hypertext link on a page, it moves on to that page.

Search engines then take all the links and index them with their own proprietary algorithms. All search engines use a different method. That's why you might get different results from different search engines.

When you search, your results come from a search engine's index, not the entire Web.
