Print
Spooler

A program that controls spooling -- putting print jobs on a queue and taking them off one at a time. You can tell your computer to print several documents and the print spooler lines them up and feeds them to the printer one by one. One advantage to this spooling method is that your computer is freed up to do other things while the spooler is feeding your print jobs to your printer.

READER FEEDBACK...

A reader asks...

"What are the advantages of 'moving to larger quarters'?"

©2000 ComputerGuyNY

First of all, don't forget to read "WEEKLY IN DEPTH" below to get info about Domain Names.

Regarding your question, there are many advantages associated this the move to "larger quarters".  I'll have alot more space available to expand the web site... alot of special technical capabilities (special effects, streaming music, etc.) to make the site more visually appealing and interesting... alot more ways to offer communication between the site and our visitors... and the list goes on.

So, keep clickin' on that daily email link and watch us as we get bigger and better.

WEEKLY IN DEPTH...

Note: this Domain Name info will remain here for the entire week.

Our New Home
www.ComputerGuyNY.com

We moved.  With a normal online account (AOL, Earthlink, etc.) you get space on your ISP's (Internet Service Provider's) server (computer) to create a web site.  Most people don't even use this space.

My space was located at http://home.earthlink.net/~MisterAguy

I decided to purchase a DOMAIN NAME (a DOT COM name).  I chose the name 'ComputerGuyNY.com'  There is a global nonprofit company that sells and manages these domain names for a $35 annual fee.  The great part is that nobody else in the entire world can have this same name.

My new space is now located at http://www.ComputerGuyNY.com

My ISP, Earthlink, "hosted" this new domain name (for an additional monthly fee).  So now I have two places on the WEB where I can display a web site.  The obvious advantages to a "dot com" (.com) site name are that it's easier for people to remember the website name and it's more "professional".

The new email address is Adam@ComputerGuyNY.com (ain't that kewl?).  But the old email address of MisterAguy@earthlink.net will still work too.

Remember the name, folks... www.ComputerGuyNY.com (and don't forget the NY at the end).  And pass it in to your friends.  They can learn a little bit more about computers each day as they visit.

I'll be adding alot of new features in the future.  Stay tuned.

So, gang, WELCOME HOME!!!
