The egg is an undocumented and usually well-hidden piece of the program. Over the years programmers have written Easter eggs for several reasons. Sometimes they create eggs just to break the monotony of programming and to have some fun. Other times, an egg is a digital signature from the development team. Here's a simple Easter Egg that exists in Win 98 and Win ME 1: Right click on desktop, chose Screen Saver tab then choose 3D Text. 2: Type in the word "volcano" in the 3d text box settings. 3: Click OK then preview and you'll see the names of volcanic mountains. Q. "It seems like an appropriate time to bring up the subject of Computer Easter Eggs. What are they and can you tell us where to find some?"

A. See the definition of Easter Eggs above in Today's Word. Here are a couple of Computer Easter Eggs that you might want to hunt for.

If you happen to be using America Online, you can find a quick and easy Easter egg. In the keyword box, type in the name of a cartoon character BACKWARDS and a picture of that character will appear. Two names that I have found that work are Yogi and Wilma. Remember, to see the hidden pictures you must type the name BACKWARDS (type 'igoy'... type 'amliw'... and don't type the quote marks). See if you can find any others.

And for us Netscape users... the Netscape programming team was nicknamed MOZILLA. If you type " about:mozilla " (no quotes) in the location field (where you would normally type a URL) an apocalyptic quote from The Book of Mozilla will appear.

Here's another Netscape Easter Egg. Press Ctrl+Alt+F (Control Key + Alt Key + the letter F) and you'll bring up a hidden Fish Cam.

WorldNews (Sunday) - Scores of people could be seen today sharing the news of the most important event in human history.

Jesus Christ had been crucified on Friday. His dead body had been taken and placed in a cave cut into the mountainside. It was sealed with a large rock and guarded.

On Sunday morning, the women who came to visit discovered that the rock was removed and that the body was no longer there. Jesus had risen from the dead just as He said He would.
