Today's An element in an electronic document (such as a Web Page) that links to another place in the same document (the same Web Page) or to an entirely different document (a different Web Page). Typically, you click on the hyperlink to follow the link. Hyperlinks are the most essential ingredient of the World Wide Web because they provide the ability to "jump" to a related area. Hyperlinks may be in the form of text or graphics. |

A reader asks...
Q. "I once visited a website that allowed me to enter a telephone number and it returned a name and address for me? Do you know where that website is?"
A. You're referring to a "reverse lookup". There are several sites that offer this free service. Remember, however, that you'll only be able to get information on "listed" (published in a telephone directory) numbers. "Unlisted" numbers won't work. Click on the link below to go to one of the websites that will do a "reverse lookup".

Web Alters How We Search For A Houses
Seattle
Times (May 16, 2001) - Don't be fooled by the dot-com crash. The Internet has irrevocably changed the way houses are being bought and sold.
That's the unwavering opinion of the National Association of Realtors.
The
association noted that a study it conducted concludes that four years ago just 2 percent of home buyers used the Web. Now it's 60 percent.
The study found that a vast majority of these consumers still use real-estate
agents but instead of showing eight properties to the average home buyer, agents now show
four because buyers have already done a lot of looking online.
"This is the fastest rise of any medium we've seen," a representative of
the National Association of
Realtors said. "The Web is here."

Find Files Fast
Have you ever downloaded a program, only to find you weren't paying attention to where it was being stored? Have you lost a copy of a crucial document or resume?
Chances are that they are still on your hard drive. Without spending precious time to investigate each folder on your system, you can quickly uncover those lost files in no time at all.
To find files fast, follow these steps:
1. Hold down the Windows keyboard button and the "F" button at the same time, or
click on the Start menu and locate "Find" (in Windows ME it's
"Search") then "Files or Folders."
2. In the "Name" field, type the name of the file you'd like to find (or any part of the name).
3. In the "Look In" field, select "My Computer."
4. Hit "Find now."
5. This will bring up a list of all the files on your computer containing the text that you had typed.
Happy hunting.
